This is the end...my only friend, the end!
Updated: Sep 1, 2020
It's OK, no need to panic I am not planning on jumping off a cliff anytime soon, I'm just a Jim Morrison fan lol. However, what a shite show of a year 2020 has been thus far; killer disease, lockdowns, face masks, protests, job losses, murder hornets and of course 'I'm a celeb' is not going to be in the Australian outback but a 19th century castle in North Wales pmsl!
What's going on with the channel?
Despite all this life goes on and so does MF Vape. In fact, those that keep regular tabs with the channel will know that instead of my usual batches of reviews recorded in my 'studio' I have instead ventured down the 'live review' avenue. The past couple of Saturdays I have gone 'live' on my Youtube channel not just because I enjoy the interaction between my loyal subscribers but thought I could kill two birds with one stone by carrying out a full review (and rebuild tutorial) whilst doing so.
As I work full time and do not have a dedicated 'studio' in order to record and edit my reviews, it is more practical if I just do one live show per week rather than spending hour upon hour recording and editing. The feedback I got from chat was that they think the format is working so for the time being I will aim to do one live review every Saturday afternoon. I still hope to do some studio reviews but this will be when I take the odd day off work. One thing you can't replicate using Logitech C920 Pro webcams is the video quality of my Canon EOS M50.
Ok, so what am I reviewing on the next show then?
So up for review in next week's live show will be the Vandy Vape Pyro V3. A couple years ago RDTAs were two a penny but recently there haven't been a huge abundance that I have noticed anyway. I know the Pyro V3 was released nigh on a year ago but it is new to me and I have been having a lot of fun with it. It is a dual coil RDTA that packs a punch. Keep your eyes peeled on the channel but it's more than likely I will be streaming at 4pm next Saturday (5th September) to give you my thoughts on this beast.
Have I got anything nice coming in for review?
As it happens, yes I already have the Geekvape Aegis Max 100w mod (pic to the right) which can accommodate a 30mm with room to spare. We also have the Alliancetech Aston RTA which if am not mistaken looks like it will be a good restrictive direct to lung or loose mouth to lung number. My mate & fellow reviewer Kieron (Another Vape Channel) has recommended this one to me so I'm very much looking forward to putting it through its paces. Another 'old' RDA but will be new to me is the QP Design Kali V2 RDA which I believe comes as a kit with a number of different tanks and drip tips. Hoping this will be good with a couple of series coils in so I can use it on my Overkill series box.
I bought both of these from Le Petit Vapoteur from France. I have only started buying from them recently but they have a good loyalty discount program and also seem to have occasional promotions around bank holidays much like most other vape shops. Delivery to the UK is free at the moment if you spend over 29.90 Euros and typically takes 3 to 5 working days to arrive. I particularly like using them as they stock sought after items like my recently reviewed Juggerknot V2 RTA which you can either watch on my Youtube channel or by checking out my 'Live Shows/Reviews' tab on my website.
So you're only reviewing stuff you buy now then?
Well that is the plan although I do have a couple of exceptions - one being that Mark from Nature Vape has said he will be sending me his latest RDA that he has co-designed with a vape manufacturer. Mark is a good friend and he also supplies all the coils for my channel reviews. The other being Sourcemore who will occasionally send me stuff that I choose free of charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Not so long ago I emailed all vendors that sent me items to review and instructed them not to send me anything else for the time being. The reason being I was finding I had a long backlog of stuff that quite frankly I had no interest in reviewing. As I mentioned earlier, work and family commitments mean that reviewing has to take a back seat as I was actually getting stressed with the thought of trying to fit in all my reviews. Don't get me wrong, I have always appreciated receiving products without having to pay for them but over the past 18 months or more I was finding that most of the stuff was either pods or starter kits. For those that are unaware putting up a review can take a good deal of time...which is a precious resource.
Now, again I respect the fact that there are a lot of new vapers out there that will appreciate a starter kit review and I'm not saying I won't ever review one. In fact, the two items I will be getting from Sourcemore will be the Freemax Maxus 200 and the Maxus 100 kits. These do take external batteries though so for me they are not for complete beginners but for those that have been vaping a while that are ready to progress on to the next step. I don't mind reviewing a kit from time to time just to see how things have progressed.
It's no secret that I prefer to review rebuildables (RTAs and RDAs) and external battery mods.
For the time being I will carry on purchasing products that I actually want as well as checking in with Sourcemore to see what they've got. To be honest, they have been really good to work with and they know I will always put my review up after I have tested thoroughly. For me the pressure has been lifted somewhat knowing that I can pick and choose what I review rather than feeling like I have to. After all reviewing vape products is a hobby for me and don't want it to feel like a job (unpaid at that lol).
Anyway, I have regained my passion for vaping and am looking forward to my live shows on a Saturday afternoon. For anyone that is interested in whether or not 'It's only banter mate' is returning, the answer is I really couldn't tell you. We have all spoken about it and I thought it was coming back but for the time being I think it is still on hiatus. I will keep you all posted if I hear anything though.
I hope you are all staying safe and want to say a special thank you to all that have and continue to support my little channel. I look forward to seeing you on my next live review next Saturday!
